"According to the American Veterinary Dental Society (AVDS), eighty percent of dogs and
seventy percent of cats have periodontal disease by the age of three!
Proper dental care could increase their life by two to five years!"

Digital Dental Radiology

We take dental health very seriously, as it is fundamental in maintaining a healthy pet. Dental disease is not merely a cosmetic issue, but can be a painful condition which can lead to more generalized disease in your pet. Our hospital's Dental Suite is equipped with state-of-the-art dentistry equipment, including a digital dental X-ray unit to fully evaluate tooth roots and oral structures for abscesses, bone loss due to periodontal disease and certain types of cancer.

Part of what sets Godspeed Animal Care apart from some other veterinary hospitals is that each dental we perform holds to the rigorous standards set forth by the American Animal Hospital Association. Prior to the dental cleaning, pre-anesthetic bloodwork is performed on the patient to properly determine anesthetic parameters. During the procedure, a tooth-by-tooth assessment is performed and documented and radiographs are taken. Each anesthetized pet has a dedicated surgical assistant closely monitoring such patient vitals as blood pressure, blood oxygen and CO2 levels, temperature, and electrocardiogram readings. Each patient also receives intravenous fluids to help maintain organ function throughout the procedure.

Should your pet require dental extractions, we provide local anesthetic blocks as needed during the procedure and will provide safe and effective pain management options for post-op care. After the procedure, smaller patients can recover in a climate and temperature controlled heating unit and larger patients with a warm-air heating blanket. Each patient leaves with a report card of the dental findings and recommendations, along with before and after pictures.
