Pet Wellness Examinations

A physical wellness exam by a veterinarian is one of the most important components of any health screening. During your pet's assessment, the doctor will perform a thorough evaluation of the eyes, ears, mouth, heart, lungs, abdomen, skin, muscles, and bones.

Senior Pets
For senior pets, twice a year examinations are fundamental in extending a high quality of life for your beloved pet. In addition to the recommended vaccinations and testing of prior years, the doctor may also advise additional diagnostics as part of your pet's health assessment. Our veterinarians will work with you to devise the most appropriate medical plan for your pet. Should your pet be injured or develop an illness, the doctor will assess your animal and perform the suitable diagnostic procedures to help get them back on track and feeling better. For animals that need a quieter or less medical type environment for evaluations, or should the difficult time arise when euthanasia is decided, Godspeed Animal Care offers a chapel as an alternative to a standard examination room. Many of our clients value the comfortable setting this provides.

Young to Middle Aged Dogs and Cats
For young to middle aged dogs and cats, our veterinarians recommend wellness examinations twice a year. Because these animals age approximately 7 years to our 1 year, having them examined bi-annually is equivalent to having them seen approximately every 3-1/2 years. Doing so helps to identify issues early on before they can become a more painful or costly health concern for your pet. During these appointments, we will also administer appropriate vaccinations, perform a fecal parasite analysis, and a heartworm/tick borne disease test. We will also advise of other breed or species specific health issues that may warrant additional testing.

Puppies and Kittens
For puppies and kittens, we will perform these examinations and administer appropriate vaccinations. Generally the vaccines will need to be boosted every 3 to 4 weeks until the pet reaches 14-16 weeks of age. During these appointments the doctor will also perform a fecal parasite exam and will deworm your pet. This is an essential step to help ensure that these parasites are not passed onto humans. Our veterinarians will advise about microchipping, flea/tick and heartworm prevention, upcoming spay or neuter procedures, help consult on behavioral issues, and answer any questions you may have.
