Several things about Godspeed Animal Care set us apart from other Veterinary practices in our area. In addition to the regular Veterinary Services of Medical Care and Surgery that most clinics offer, we offer:
Diagnostic Ultrasound
Ultrasound is a non-invasive way of evaluating an animal’s internal organ structure, as well as a tool in ultrasound guided biopsies of these organs. Echocardiography, ultrasound imaging of the heart, provides the best overall evaluation of the heart’s structure and contractile ability. It greatly enhances the clinician’s ability to diagnose and treat heart disease. Through telemedicine, these images can be transmitted to specialists all over the world for further consultation.
Laser Surgery
Simply put, the most advanced and pain free method of performing surgery. De-claw surgery in cats, for example, done with a CO2 Laser, produces a result that requires no bandages and less pain medication. It seals the nerve endings so the pain generated by the claw removal is minimized and healing is enhanced. The same principle applies to other surgeries performed with Laser. More than three quarters of the surgery we now perform includes the use of our surgical laser.
Doppler Blood Pressure Measurement
As in human medicine, blood pressure readings are an important diagnostic tool and indicator of your pet’s health. In much the same way your doctor will take your blood pressure during an office visit we will take your pets blood pressure. Blood pressure readings can alert your veterinarian to possible hidden health risks such as the potential for strokes or retinal bleeding.
Digital Radiography
This state-of-the-art X-ray imaging process allows us to obtain superior radiographs of our patients in a fraction of the time it used to take, and provides incredible flexibility in evaluating these films. It is true that more accurate diagnoses can be made from higher quality x-ray images, so this is of great value. This also makes the images we take easily transmittable via e-mail for radiology consultations. We also now have the capability to produce CD-Rom copies of your pets’ X-ray images, so you can have them available for a specialist, emergency appointments or for viewing at home.
House calls
In a day and age when such a thing is unheard of, Godspeed Animal Care offers house calls for our clients’ convenience, as well as their pets’. With our custom outfitted vehicle, we can perform most outpatient, non-surgical procedures in the comfort of your home. Euthanasia performed at home provides a comforting end for a beloved family pet. A separate house call fee applies.
Avian and Exotic Animal Care
Godspeed Animal Care offers in-clinic medical, surgical, and nursing care for birds, reptiles, small mammals and a variety of exotic animals.
Round the Clock Attendant
Godspeed Animal Care is fortunate to be partnered with our neighboring St. Francis Pet Resort. Their trained staff is present throughout the night in both the animal hospital and the Pet Resort. Hospital patients can be monitored and receive medications throughout the night, with the doctor on call only a phone call away. Should our state-of-the-art fire/emergency alarm sound for any reason, a staff member is right there to deal with the situation effectively. The result of all this: peace of mind for you and your veterinarian! In addition, canine patients are let out late in the evening and before morning light, providing a more comfortable stay. Our patients are watched long after other clinics in town are closed.
Rehabilitation Therapy
Dr. Dumont is a Certified Canine Rehabilitation Practitioner. In the past, post-surgical cases have been “rested” for up to 8 weeks, greatly reducing their chances of ever returning to normal function. Now, it is known that early intervention with the modalities of heat, cold, Passive Range of Motion (PROM), Therapeutic Ultrasound, Therapy Laser, and both Land and Underwater Treadmill therapy greatly improves the eventual outcomes for these dogs. In addition, older dogs suffering from Osteoarthritis can greatly benefit from therapeutic exercise and rehabilitation. This treatment is now available through our neighboring St. Francis Pet Resort and Rehabilitation Center.
Dental Suite with Dental Radiology
At Godspeed Animal Care our Dental Suite is equipped with a dental x-ray unit to fully evaluate tooth roots and other oral structures. This greatly aids in the diagnosis of root abscesses, bone loss due to periodontal disease, and certain types of cancer. In addition, it enables us to x-ray very small mammals and birds in better detail than our regular unit. In addition to regular dental cleanings, dental extractions of diseased teeth are surgically removed by a veterinarian. This process aids in the recovery time and comfort of our dental patients. Our dental cleanings are preformed with ultrasonic scaling, hand scaling, polishing (to smooth the tooth surface after scaling) and measurements of gum pockets to monitor periodontal disease.
