Our veterinarians donate their time and expertise to provide for injured and sick wildlife, including eagles, deer, hawks, owls, squirrels, and more. Our St. Francis Wildlife and Compassion Fund helps defray the costs of medication, X-rays, bandages, surgeries, and so on. We take great satisfaction in the number of animals that are released into the wild each year as a result of our efforts. If an animal is not able to be released back into the wild after it has recovered, we send it to local licensed wildlife rehabilitators, to the Wildlife Center of Virginia, or to local zoos or living museums. One of our wildlife patients was even treated and then relocated to SeaWorld in Florida.
We recommend if you come across injured baby birds, squirrels, or rabbits, leave them where you find them so that their mother is able to get to them. If you discover an injured adult animal or one that needs help, call Godspeed Animal Care to retrieve the animal, or if you can safely move the animal while wearing gloves, bring it to us for treatment.
Be sure to contact Godspeed Animal Care for complete exotic pet care or for concerns about injured wildlife.
